the nerves that say NI!

This evening I finally saw the shin pain specialist. He was fascinated and murmured a lot of medical jargon to himself as he tried to make sense of my shins. It does appear to be a freak nerve pain thing, but the bilateral (aka both legs) aspect doesn’t make sense. He has prescribed an ultrasound and a mild antidepressant… Apparently that’s the best medication for freaky nerve pain. I very much like the idea of medicating my shin pain as opposed to tedious Physio exercises…

I won’t pretend I’m not excited. I can’t wait to find out more about what the frack has been happening to my shins. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to run the Hash in time for my trip to Taiwan at the end of April?

Ok, well, let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. Tomorrow I will fill my prescription and book my ultrasound appointment. I also need to book an appointment with my GI specialist to get an update on my ulcerative colitis treatment (namely, is it working yet), as both the shin pain and the UC specialist conveniently work out of the same building on Fridays. That way I only need to take one morning off work.
